Beginning / Gentle Yoga This class is for beginners, people with physical limitations or people who wish a relaxing slow paced practice. It includes centering, basic breath awareness, joint mobility exercises, basic postures, and relaxation. Hatha Yoga Mixed level class suitable for most participants without physical disabilities. Basic breathing and postures with focus on alignment. Intermediate / Moderate Yoga / Vinyasa This class is for the more experienced student who can comfortably practice a sun salutation. It is a vinyasa format where postures are linked with breath. It includes more advanced pranayama practices, standing postures, basic inversions, back bending poses, twists, and forward bending. There is an emphasis on finding proper safe alignment in poses. Each class concludes with 5-10 minutes of deep relaxation. Power Yoga This class is for the experienced, fit student who wants a challenging practice. It includes some vigorous pranayama and bandha practice, warm up sequence emphasizing hip opening, sun salutations A & B, standing pose vinyasa sequences, standing and arm balance postures, back bending, deep twisting and forward bends ending with 5-10 minutes of relaxation. Yin This practice was developed by Paul Grilley of Portland Oregon. It emphasizes deep stretching of connective tissue in seated, prone, and reclining poses that are held for approximately 5 minutes each. It increases the flow of energy through the nadis and release of blockages. It also nourishes and lubricates the joints. Yin Yoga may also be combined with 'Yang' yoga flows for a complete experience. Restorative Yoga In this yoga class, props such as bolsters, blankets, straps, walls and chairs are used to experience deep relaxation for rejuvenation.
Available for private students and workshops: Chair Yoga This class is individualized for the student with physical impairments making it difficult to practice sitting on the floor. It would include breathing practices, joint mobility exercises, basic seated postures, standing postures (using a chair for support), and relaxation. This class is good for elderly or people with injuries. This is also a good class for those with a desk job and would like to learn easy techniques for a yoga break at work. Partner Yoga Tom and Sally team up to lead this innovative class that is appropriate for all levels of students. In this practice you work with a partner to help each other go deeper into poses with support, developing communication and trust. |
